FAQ
What does Vahti actually do?
Microsoft 365 includes strong security features, but with default settings your environment is not as secure as it could be.
When Vahti is connected to your Microsoft 365 environment, it:
- identifies security risks and misconfigurations
- continuously monitors your environment and risk signals
- shows clearly what to fix and how
By keeping your settings up to date with Vahti, your Microsoft 365 environment stays secure.
Do I really need Vahti to improve my M365 security?
Microsoft 365 already includes strong security features, and in theory your environment can be secured without Vahti.
In practice, this is often difficult because:
- settings are spread across multiple admin views
- security data comes from many different sources
- understanding the overall picture is challenging even for professionals
Vahti makes this clear and manageable:
- brings your security into a single view
- shows what to fix and in what order
- continuously monitors your environment and detects new risks
It also helps you act on risks as soon as they appear — without relying on separate audits or external consultants.
Does Vahti also detect attacks?
Yes.
Microsoft 365 continuously generates security-related data such as sign-in events, alerts and other risk signals.
Vahti uses this data to:
- identify unusual or risky activity
- highlight the most relevant findings clearly
- show what to do next
Microsoft’s built-in security mechanisms handle the actual protection and alerting.
Vahti makes this information understandable and guides you to the right actions.
This gives you a clear situational view and helps you respond quickly when something unusual happens.
Is multi-factor authentication (MFA) enough to secure the environment?
MFA is a critical layer of protection and a strong starting point — but it is not enough on its own to secure a Microsoft 365 environment.
Security is also shaped by factors such as:
- user and admin access rights
- permissions granted to applications
- sign-in policies and Conditional Access
- email security settings
- file sharing configurations
In practice, many attacks target these other areas or attempt to bypass MFA.
Vahti helps you see the full picture and ensures that all key security settings are properly in place.
Isn’t Microsoft 365 security already enough?
Microsoft 365 provides comprehensive and high-quality security features and controls.
The challenge is not the lack of features, but that they are often not fully utilized or correctly configured.
Vahti ensures you get the most out of Microsoft 365 security in a way that is effective and safe for your business. It identifies gaps, guides remediation and keeps the overall security posture continuously under control.
How is Vahti different from Microsoft Secure Score?
Microsoft Secure Score gives you a high-level view of your Microsoft 365 security posture as a score.
Vahti goes further:
- identifies concrete risks, not just scores
- prioritizes what to fix first
- provides clear remediation paths: what to do, where and how
With Vahti, you know exactly how to improve security in practice — not just that it should be improved.
In practice, even if your Secure Score is high, Vahti often still identifies multiple areas where your security can be significantly improved.
Does Vahti see our company’s emails or documents?
No.
Vahti does not read or access the content of emails or files, and it does not have access to passwords.
The service uses Microsoft’s APIs only to analyze security-relevant data, such as:
- security settings
- user and application permissions
- sign-in activity and other security events
Based on this, Vahti identifies potential risks and provides recommendations to fix them.
How quickly can Vahti be set up?
Setup usually takes just a few minutes.
- Connect your Microsoft 365 environment
- Vahti analyses your current security posture
- You immediately see the key risks and recommended actions
Do I need IT or security expertise?
No.
Vahti is designed so that even non-technical users can understand their security posture and what needs to be fixed.
Findings and recommendations are presented in clear language without complex technical jargon.
At the same time, Vahti also supports experienced IT and security professionals by bringing all relevant information into a single view.
What if we already have an IT partner?
That’s a good starting point — but not required.
Vahti doesn’t replace your IT partner; it complements them.
Vahti helps identify risks and prioritize what to fix, while your IT partner can implement the changes in practice.
At the same time, the remediation paths are designed so that deep technical expertise is not required.
Who is Vahti for?
Vahti is designed for companies that want to keep their Microsoft 365 security under control — regardless of size.
Typically, Vahti’s customers have around 5–50 employees, but company size is not a limiting factor.
The service is especially suited for organizations without a dedicated security team that still want to ensure their security is properly managed.
Vahti is a strong fit for companies that:
- want a clear view of their security posture
- want to know what to fix first
- want to improve security without heavy projects or ongoing consulting
What is the pricing based on?
Vahti’s pricing is based on:
- a company-level monthly fee
- the number of Microsoft 365 users
The pricing is transparent and easy to predict as your user count grows.
There are no separate onboarding or setup fees.
Can I try Vahti before making a decision?
Yes. You can try Vahti free of charge and quickly see the current security posture of your Microsoft 365 environment.
You’ll immediately see the most important risks and recommended actions.
Can there be additional costs when using Vahti?
Vahti is billed only according to the monthly pricing shown.
There are no hidden fees, onboarding charges or separate license costs.
Vahti analyzes the security of your Microsoft 365 environment and may identify situations where your current licenses do not provide sufficient protection for your needs.
In such cases, Vahti may recommend upgrading your licenses to enable the required security features. Any additional costs would then be related to Microsoft licenses — not the use of Vahti.
